Your Culture-Catchphrases – Lue’s Explanation

NACWE Member, Lue Kraltchev, our Culture and Communication Consultant, has worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years. I’ve had the privilege of traveling with her many times and have thoroughly enjoyed her masterful storytelling about the things she’s learned in that industry. She shared with me that her restaurant company has what they call “theories.”  These are metaphorical stories designed to empower and reframe the team to solve problems and overcome obstacles. Everyone in the business is so familiar with the theories that when a leader in the restaurant mentions the theory, even if he/she uses only a few catchy words, the entire team from top to bottom understands exactly what is meant and how to respond so that they shine in their field and serve their customers with excellence.

Your Culture-Catchphrases – Unique to YOU!

What is a “catchy phrase” or concept that you as an entrepreneur use over and over and over? You use it so often that those in your inner circle automatically know before you even tell the story what you’re referring to and what their next step should be!

Your Culture-Catchphrases = “Shift Gears!”

For example, in my home and in my business/ministry, I often use the term “shift gears.” We have six children and 11 grandchildren, and oftentimes, when someone is “out of sorts,“ I will comfort them and remind them that in an “out of sorts“ situation all you usually need to do is “Shift Gears.”

As a coach, I’ve often reminded a client who is feeling stuck or as if he/she is spinning their wheels that instead of plowing forward with angst, they should “Shift Gears.” In fact, I’m reminded of Chuck Swindoll’s book titled, Three Steps Forward, Two Steps Back. We’re all afraid of stopping/stagnating, of moving backward instead of forward!

Look at God’s encouragements in Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message):

28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Your Culture-Catchphrases – How to “Shift Gears!”

This is our theme verse for the next few months and for our #2020NACWEConference.

It’s an encouragement I offer to others and repeat to myself often.

Learn the unforced rhythms of His Grace.

“Shift Gears:”

• back up, even! (Now, that’s a scary thought!)
• downshift,
• stop,
• take a break,
• meet with the Lord in a consultation with the CEE – Chief Executive of Everything, and only
• come back to “Shift Gears” or upshift again when He has given the goforth signal!

Now when you hear the term “Shift Gears,“ I hope you’ll remember this catchphrase and hopefully shift into a new and more aligned position in your life and in your business/ministry as you learn the unforced rhythms of His grace and Work God’s Way!
