Uncommon Friends (Part 4)
Uncommon Friends (Part 4)
Guest Post by Alyssa Avant, Vickie Minnella, and Kate Powers
Friendships are often forged through commonalities, but sometimes friendships are found in the most unlikely places. We’ve all read some amazing stories that have been formed through “online” connections—it’s a whole new world out there.
Three such women, NACWE members, forced one of these unique bonds through their association with the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs. Their relationship is a snapshot of the heart of NACWE. We caught up with these women to get each of their stories on how they met and what their friendship as well as NACWE means to them.
Each Monday through the month of September, which is International Friendship Month, we will be checking in with these ladies about their uncommon friendship.
NACWE: Kate, Vickie, and Alyssa, would you say there was a specific moment or event that solidified your friendship?
Alyssa: For me it was when I met Kate and Vickie in person in Dallas and they were both just as genuine and awesome in person as they were typing across computer screens or chatting on Skype. Kate is real, wise, and Godly. Vickie is authentic, bubbly and fun-loving. I needed those types of friends in my life.
Kate: I would have to say spending time in person at the conferences solidified things for me. To see Alyssa and Vickie in action live, doing what they love was just awesome. Their passion for their businesses and genuine caring for others is just beautiful. It was so much fun to spend time sitting together, laughing, sharing and planning…the synergy was powerful; you just can’t create that virtually.
Vickie: Definitely Dallas! We had so much fun and connected with each other like we had known each other for years. We all came with our own businesses and ideas, but left joined at the hip in commitment to our friendship through faith.
NACWE: What would you like to share with women who are thinking of joining NACWE?
Alyssa: I was just telling someone the other day who had asked me about NACWE what it has done for me. I’ll share the same with you. NACWE has given me a place to be empowered, encouraged and blessed. It is a community of women who understand me, pray for me and never judge me. NACWE is a breath of fresh air and a place to learn and grow. If that’s something that you need in your life, then you need NACWE and we need you.
Kate: NACWE has been a blessing to both my business and to me personally. I have developed strong friendships with like-minded women entrepreneurs, who are as invested in my success as I am and understand the journey we are on isn’t always a straight path. I love the safe space that is the NACWE community and the ongoing opportunities to learn and grow. For anyone thinking about joining, just do it. It is the best investment you can make for your business and yourself!
Vickie: NACWE is such a powerful tool that provides the training and networking every woman needs, but it also offers the inspiration to succeed, accountability to challenge you and the friendships to bless you. This has by far been the best experience of my entrepreneurial journey and will continue to be a part of my life.
This is part 4 of a 4-part article series and concludes the series. Have you participated in NACWE’s Join With a Friend event this month?
