Tips & Tools: Information Products
Guest post by Alyssa Avant.
Whether you’re just starting out in business, or if you’re a seasoned pro, adding info products to your business model can set your business up for success. There are two main uses of information products, selling them or giving them away. The reason for doing the first is obvious; you receive a fixed amount of money for each product that you sell. And as a giveaway, your products can build your lists and increase your following.
So, whether you use the info products you create as a new revenue stream or to increase your platform, either way it is a win.
Ready to get started, but don’t know where to start? Here’s a few ideas to get you on your way:
Write an ebook. An ebook is one of the most popular forms of information products. An ebook can vary in length from around 20 pages to over 200 pages depending on your topic and your niche. The key to remember when writing an ebook is to write with your audience in mind. You are writing for your readers, not for yourself, so if your readers are busy moms you won’t want to make the book too lengthy for the amount of time they have to spend reading it.
Do a series of interviews. Expert information is what we all crave, when we’re researching the latest diet, or the newest ways to cook we want to know what the experts have to say. Choose a handful of experts to interview on your chosen topic, record the interviews and package them into an amazing audio info product.
Provide training. We all seek resources and training for software and programs from time to time. Many times software or programs can have quite a learning curve and if you can provide easy-to-understand training for it you can truly meet the needs of a large group of individuals. Using a screen-capturing program and a mic on your computer you can easily walk a person step-by-step through the process, and recording it can create an instant info product.
These are just a few of the vast amounts of ideas there are for creating info products. Consider your target market, your topic and what people are searching for, and you will be surprised at what you can create that will benefit your business and help others at the same time.
