Take Your Place: Own Your God-given Role
Recently, I listened to a wonderful, live worship recording. My heart was stirred. The excellence of this project was evident due to each person’s role. The album was dynamic. The lyrics of the music became alive because each person understood their identity as children of God.
As I listened to the music, this message dropped in my heart: People need to take their place on the planet. They need to embrace their God-given roles.
What are you called to do? What are you passionate about? Are you doing things that make you feel alive?
The world needs YOU to take your place and be the person you were created to be.
Are you an artist?
Are you a singer/song writer?
Are you an enterpreneur?
Are you a writer?
Are you a teacher?
Do you love helping others?
What are your gifts? Your strengths?
Are you a mother? A wife? A daughter?
Do you recognize your circle of influence?
Let’s become clear about our passions and the things God wired us to do. Nothing becomes dynamic in our life until we understand our purpose and live it. The glory of God is “man fully alive.”
Start Small and Stay Committed. It isn’t only the grand accomplishments that impact the planet. Start where you are. Confidence grows as we take action and are consistent in the present responsibilities and commitments. Do not despise where you are unless you know you are in a place that is out of alignment with your purpose. However, if you feel that you are not where you are supposed to be, seek wise counsel to find out the place you need to be. This is divine discontent.
Life is too short to do things that are unaligned with our purpose. I also want to warn you may be in a season where you have to wait a period of time before you’ll be at your ideal place or role. Allow this season to shape your character, and take time to be grateful for the journey to your dreams. No time or opportunity is wasted in your life.
How you exit one season is how you will enter the next season. The seasons of life may not always favor us personally, but they can be benefit our personal growth. Each season prepares us for the next. Do not lose heart. Stay committed through each step of your journey.
Don’t hold back. SHOW UP in life. People are attached to your obedience.
Your life, your choices, and your giftings will touch the lives of the people around you. Choose to show up in life. Go after the dreams in your heart, invest in your gifts and choose to get involved to serve in your community or church. Show up because someone needs to see you in your role, and be inspired to take their place on the planet.
In a recent American Idol episode, one of the judges acknowledged a contestant’s role on the show as “Divine Intervention.” The contestant’s role on the show was about his gift, but there was more behind it—his voice was born to touch lives.
Each one of us was born for greatness. Use that greatness to serve the world around us. Write your stories, sing your songs, step out in leadership, organize a community event, embrace your purpose. These obedient actions affect a group of people you have not yet met. People are attached to your obedience.
I am grateful for the many leaders I serve who invested blood, sweat and tears into their purpose and in serving others. Their obedience and service touched my life, and God used their life as a way to commission me to my purpose.
Take your place on the Planet… we need you.

This was a great article!! Love it…
This was so reaffirming! It is hard as a christian woman and business owner not to get caught up in surviving your tasks. It is a consious choice to live for the purpose your heavenly father gave you…and his burden is light, so somewhere in there you should enjoy it… or it would be heavy again.
Hello Sandy,
I love your article, and was wondering if I could repost it on my Facebook page: Go-for-it-Girls. This is a FB magazine, of sorts, that I began this year. The purpose is to help encourage women to pursue their God-given passions.
I just found NACWE tonight, as I was getting tomorrows’ publication ready (I publish every Monday morning). I read your article and thought it perfect content.
Love this article! Very encouraging!
Thank you for sharing this. It’s so beautifully encouraging! We all have gifts God has given us and we need to use them to bless others and give glory to God. You are using your gift of writing well!
