What a Donkey Can Teach You About Business Success (Yes, Really)

February 18, 2026/in Christian Woman Entrepreneur, Entrepreneur Spiritual Growth/by Heather Rosson

You might not think you have much in common with a donkey.

But let me tell you a story.

There was a business season in my life that felt like I was hauling bricks uphill with no cart. I was doing all the things: coaching calls, social media, email, networking events, church leadership, homeschooling (because why not?), and still trying to be present with my family.

And for all that effort?

Crickets.

If you’ve ever cried in the bathroom while scrolling someone else’s “six-figure launch” post and wondering why your God-given business feels stuck in neutral…you’re not alone.

But guess what — the answer wasn’t in another funnel. It came from a verse I had read 100 times.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3 (ESV)

That day, I did something radical.

I stopped striving and started submitting.

Not in a passive, “let go and let God” way (because let’s be honest, bills still come due).

But I started with prayer. Not a vague, “bless this business, Lord,” but real, gut-honest, specific prayers. I asked Him to show me the next right step.

And He did.

That verse—Proverbs 16:3—was my wake-up call. It became one of several bible verses for business success that have carried me and countless NACWE sisters through the messy middle of entrepreneurship.

So today I want to share 7 Bible verses for business success that aren’t just feel-good fridge magnets, but foundational truths for your faith-led business.

1. Proverbs 16:3 – Submit Your Strategy

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”

This is your permission slip to stop carrying the business alone. Bring your marketing strategy, client goals, and your flopped offers before Him. He doesn’t just bless the work—He shapes it.

If you’ve been wrestling with the tension of planning vs. going with the flow, this verse offers clarity: plan in His presence, then trust Him with the outcome.

2. Colossians 3:23 – Do It With Heart

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”

When you feel unseen—when the post gets two likes and no one opens the email—this verse reminds you who your real boss is. You’re not building for followers. You’re building for faithfulness.

3. Deuteronomy 8:18 – God Gives the Power to Create Wealth

“But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”

That offer you’re creating? The workshop you’re nervous to price at full value? Sis, you didn’t come up with that out of nowhere. God planted it. He empowers your work—and He’s not offended by profit. Especially when it’s paired with purpose.

Faith and business are not mutually exclusive—they’re divinely designed to work together.

4. Matthew 6:33 – Prioritize the Kingdom

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Spoiler: Business success starts with your spiritual alignment. You’re not called to hustle harder. You’re called to seek Him first—and let Him add the rest.

And in the moments when the chaos takes over, this verse brings peace, reminding you where true order comes from.

5. James 1:5 – Ask for Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God… and it will be given to him.”

Whether it’s choosing a coach, launching a product, or figuring out what on earth to post this week—God invites you to ask. Not scroll more. Not overthink. Just ask.

6. Galatians 6:9 – Keep Showing Up

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Yes, you’re tired. You’re not alone. But this verse is for the woman who’s been faithful even when it feels fruitless. There’s a harvest coming—don’t dig up your seed just because you haven’t seen the sprout yet.

Sometimes that perseverance looks like finding productivity hacks that protect your energy while honoring your calling.

7. Ecclesiastes 11:6 – Diversify Boldly

“In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper…”

This one’s for the multi-passionate woman with three income streams and a notebook full of ideas. It’s not a flaw—it’s Biblical. Keep planting. Keep experimenting. You don’t know which seed God will breathe on.

The Takeaway

God is not indifferent to your business.

He’s not waiting for you to hit a certain revenue goal to start caring. He’s in it with you—when you launch in faith, when you cry in discouragement, when you dare to try again.

So if you’re spinning your wheels, wondering whether your business success is even part of God’s plan…

It is.

And you don’t have to figure it out alone.
