Ready for the Conference in April!
Mary Kate Evans, from Beacon to Purpose in Champaign, IL wrote in to share why she’s excited about the Inspired Women Event in Dallas in April.
Starting my own business is an exciting ride – rather like an emotional roller coaster with lots of ups and downs. It is exciting to tap into my God-given purpose, follow my passion, and play to my strengths. And yet, after leaving a 20+ year career in counseling and not-for-profit management to follow my dream, I find myself at times to be lonely and afraid. Some days I feel like a ‘lone ranger’ without the social network of an office. My inner critic shouts, “What ARE you doing? No one wants what YOU have to offer!” I am challenged to market myself and my business as old childhood tapes whisper, “Quit boasting! Good Christians girls don’t do that!”
So when a friend referred me to NACWE, I eagerly devoured the information on the website and discovered there are lots of other women out there like me – passionate, smart, creative women with a passion to serve others – who have been, or are, in the same boat. I feel like I struck GOLD!
In NACWE I discovered a network of women who face their fears and move forward anyway. Successful women who are willing to share information and offer suggestions, support, and encouragement. Amazing!
Soon we will have a chance to come together at the 1st Annual NACWE conference. I am excited for many reasons (great speakers, fellowship, fun!) – but most of all to meet the awesome women of NACWE and to continue to build a network of supportive Christian women who have a passion for serving others. Hope to see YOU in Dallas in April.
