Margin for God
Written by Rene Owens
It is hard to believe that it is 2011 already.
I am sure many of you have been considering New Year’s goals or resolutions for 2011. As entrepreneurs, I imagine many of those goals are for your business. It is an exciting time to dream big (like Diane tells us all the time). And I imagine some of those goals are to eat healthier or exercise more.
I challenge you to also consider your spiritual goals for 2011.
Since I was little, my parents had a Bible that you could read through in a year. I started doing this when I was in high school and have continued into adulthood. Last year, I got the Bible for my IPod so I can take it with me wherever I go or listen to it while I am working on prints for Piggies and Paws.
Even though I have read the Bible many times, it still amazes me what pops out new or hits me deep in my current struggles. So, I challenge you to read at least one chapter a day. A great place to start is Proverbs since it has 31 days and January has 31 days. I’ve received countless blessings from being in the scriptures daily.
As I grew up, we had family prayer time every morning before school. My family bonded and shared our hearts together before facing the world each day. If you have children still at home I encourage you to be intentional about sitting down together at least once a week to have a prayer and Bible study time.
Some of you may have kids that are already grown and out on their own. You can still have a time of prayer for them each day. If you have grandchildren you can have a prayer and Bible study time with them when they come to visit. What a great way to impact the future generation by lifting them up in prayer each day!
One of my goals this year is to make sure that I have some margin in my life so that I can do the things God has planned for me to do. I don’t want my schedule so busy and crammed full that I don’t have time to do something that will make a difference in the lives of others. I am going to review my day and see where I can carve out time to sit and reflect in prayer, Bible study, and be ready to listen to what God has planned for me.
Will you list your goals and resolutions for the 2011 on our Fanpage on Facebook? Make sure you include things in your goals for your business, your physical health, and your spiritual growth. I can’t wait to hear. Let’s all DREAM BIG!
