Looking For The Delicious Center
Guest post by Linda Young
Wouldn’t it be great if we saw people the way God does? Instead of seeing size, shape and color, ethnicity or gender, it would be wonderful if our eyes could zoom in to that inner part that God sees. His seeing is so much better than ours!
Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates; we just never know what we are going to get.” I think people are like a box of chocolates. On the outside they may look like one thing, but delve inside and you may find something delicious. They may not be anything like they appear.
If we can just resist poking a hole in them out of curiosity, trying to see if they are good enough, and instead accept them God’s way by walking in kindness, love and respect. We may find out that they are treasures in different looking packages! We can accomplish this by putting on our God Glasses.
I Samuel 16:7 says, “…..for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Let’s give it a shot today. Look past what you see in people and look into what may be the most beautiful part, yet hidden from your natural eyes. Look into the heart of the people you meet. Go past the rough exterior and go for the heart. Do it God’s way and you may find that you have found the best one in the box!
