Is Your Business Wearing a Pair of Sweatpants?
Guest Post by Alison Gillaspie
Today I came home from Bible study and, knowing I didn’t have anywhere to go the rest of the night, I went upstairs and put on a pair of sweat pants. When I had my pants on, I let out a huge sigh because of the comfort I knew I was going to experience throughout the rest of my day.
Then it happened. My sweatpants met my recliner, and from that point on, they developed an inseparable friendship. My motivation from the previous days went downhill fast, and I think I was the most unproductive I’ve been in a long time. How could one pair of pants change my whole attitude?
You see the sweatpants made me comfortable to the point of being unproductive. Have you ever done that in your business? In order for your business to be a success, you need to always be at the top of your game.
Staying on top includes researching competitors, surveying your clients and potential clients, redoing your marketing plan and evaluating your weaknesses to see what you may need another business to handle for you.
No client wants to work with someone who is unwilling to tweak their business and make it stronger. If they see you making your business stronger by admitting where change is needed, then they’ll be more willing to trust you to help grow their business.
Now is the time to take the sweatpants off of your business and change it. Put some heels on and add some sparkle. Get uncomfortable and make your business shine!
“Whosoever desires constant success must change his conduct with the times.” – Niccolo Machiavelli

Love your article! It is literally true for me that if Idress down, I am not as productive; I’m too relaxed, and put in less effort. We need to take our businesses seriously, even if it means dressing up just to go to the home office. Also, if we care about our businesses as much as we say we do, we will dress them up too.
