Is FREE Good?
FREE is always good, isn’t it? Sure, we all like getting things for free. It’s fun to find great deals and bargains. There’s nothing wrong with that. You can get everything from free BBQ’s,to concerts, to E-books.
FREE also hasn’t cost you anything so it’s easy to be non-committal. Since you haven’t invested in it emotionally or financially, you don’t have to take it seriously. At best, you’ve been entertained; all you have to do is show up. So, if it’s FREE you don’t have to be attached to the outcome.
FREE isn’t always best though. People want as much as they can for the least amount of price. The danger is if you adapt the “bargain hunter” mentality you can get hooked up on price all the time. It becomes a mindset game around a dollar figure. You are not willing to pay the price,
even if you know it’s worth it.
I have a caution for you. The hunt for FREE or bargains can become a way of life. This actually sabotages you from reaching your full potential in your life and business. When you are always looking for “inexpensive” and “enough to get by”, you are limiting yourself. You are not making room for greater success and abundance.
It may NOT about the money; rather it may be your beliefs and mindsets you have around money. Here are some common ones:
- You are afraid you won’t get the results you paid for
- You have a fear of letting go of money
- You come from a lack mentality
- You question how deserving you are
- You think this is good enough
Mindsets that are trained to continually search for bargains can end up leaving you to settle for less than what you REALLY want, or what you KNOW you need. Are you settling for the sake of the bargain? Don’t take too much pride in being thrifty; it might be costing you and your business in the long run.
Before you flinch at the price and want to walk away, ask yourself,
- What you are getting?
- What is this service/program/product about?
- What are all its benefits? What results will I see?
- What will it cost me by NOT investing in it?
My experience has taught me that when I have chosen wisely, the benefits far outweigh theinitial cost. Some things simply ARE worth paying the ticket price. Go ahead, shop for bargains, get things for FREE, but please don’t let this “hunt” becomea theme where you short-change yourself or your business. Give yourself permission to financially invest in yourself or your business when you need to. Pay the price; swallow hard if you have to, but don’t settle for bargain based prices when it’s clear you are sabotaging yourself in the long run.

I enjoyed this article. The key for me is choosing wisely. Unfortunately resources for investing is limited, so Godly wisdom is truly needed. Free in some areas are great because then they allow the investing in others. I think that is why I have so many clothes I don’t “love” in my closet, I paid to much attention on the bargain..not the thing I was getting. Loved the bargain, but not really the “result” of the bargain. You make so much sense, I need to apply to business.
