Growing in Faith Together

Prayer has always been a major part of my life.  All throughout my day, I talk to God—before my feet even hit the floor all the way until I am in bed again at night.  My relationship with God, my Abba Father, is much like my relationship with my earthly father, Foy Owens. I can always pick up the phone and talk to my dad about anything.

This week has been different. I can’t pick up the phone and talk to my dad because he is on a mission trip to Ghana, Africa. When he left last Monday, I talked to my Abba Father all throughout the day as my dad flew from Dallas to NYC to Accra, Ghana.

That evening, my mom texted, “Something is wrong. The plane is headed back to the U.S.”  My brother was at my house with me. “We have to pray,” I told him. He looked at me and nodded, “Okay”.

I knew whatever was going on was going to be fine but I needed to talk to my Abba Father! I felt such a peace after the prayer. Eventually we discovered it was just a problem with the tracking device. The plane was not headed back to the U.S. –they landed in Ghana and have been having a great work for the Kingdom.

I thought about this situation several times this week. After things settled down I was back talking to God and thanking Him for what He had done to keep my dad safe during his travels.

But how many times have I not thanked God for answering my prayers? I always ask Him for things but then do I always say “Thank you?” In this season of Thanksgiving, I challenge you to really be conscious of being thankful for what God has done in your life and all the prayers that He has answered.

Each day during November, I am going to post at least one thing that I am thankful for on my Facebook page.  I hope many of you will join me in doing this.  I can’t wait to see the ways that God has blessed you in your businesses, personal lives, and spiritual lives.
