When did you start your business and how has it evolved since then?
The name of my coaching services is called Thrive Now Coaching which is designed to affirm, empower, and strengthen women in leadership, ministry, and support roles. I help clients find clarity, creativity, hope, rejuvenation, and realignment with vision and passion.
I began my business in July 2010 when I completed my certification for life coaching.
My journey to starting my business came sooner than I expected. Going from an employee to an entrepreneur was an unexpected dream come true for me. The company I worked for went through a massive lay off, and my position was eliminated 3 weeks after my husband I moved into our first home. We were were scared but we made it through the first four months of the year successfully. I began to do some freelance work at home, and I was able to use my available time to finish my certification in Life Coaching. I began a coaching business in faith. God blessed my efforts, and I was given opportunities to speak, and I met some wonderful people during the summer. Diane was one of my divine connections. I took her Be BRAVE Business Bootcamp course and I learned how to take action in my business. As a result I joined NACWE to be connected to other like minded women in business. I am in the initial phases of my business.
Currently, I am offering a group coaching course, called Dare to Dream. It is a four-week course designed to help you get aligned with your dreams so you can create synergy in your life. I plan on offering monthly group coaching courses and also individual coaches.
I am also in the middle of launching the Central Florida Christian Coaches Network, which is a network of Christian Women called to the Coaching field in the Central Florida and surrounding areas. We will schedule meet-up events along with business training.
What do you love about being a female entrepreneur?
I love the freedom to be creative and think outside of the box. I love that I get to be my own boss, and I grow with the business. I love that it has given me the opportunity to seek guidance from other female entrepreneurs. I love that I will have the opportunity to also stay home with my children when I become a mother.
How does your faith play out it your business?
My faith is at the core of my business, and it guides my business. I realize that my identity is a child of God first, above being wife, daughter, and business owner. My identity in God gives me the confidence to be who He has created me to be.
He gave me the desire to be a coach, speaker, writer. He was also the one to guide me to the perfect timing for this business. This business is a gift in my life, and every good and perfect gift comes from the Father above.
What is your BIG dream for your business?
My big dream is to be a sought ought speaker and trainer in women’s ministry and leadership conferences.
I desire to build a leadership network for women similar to NACWE, but primarily for women called to leadership positions. This leadership network will include a mentoring program for students in high school and in college. I want to raise up confident, creative Christian female leaders ages 17 and up.
What 3 tips would you share with a friend who is launching her own entrepreneurial adventure?
- Develop your Voice- Be confident in what you are called to express in your business. You will grow with your business.
- Develop Yourself- get coaching and business training continuously so you can evolve with your business.
- Develop Relationships with like-minded women who can support, advise, and encourage you. Partnerships will be attached to your business. There is power in numbers.
