I started my SendOutCards business in October of 2008, initially as a way to help me better communicate and send cards to friends and family. I believe I am an entrepreneur at heart, so when I set up my initial account, it was as a distributor of the company. It was such a cool and unique service, that I was convinced that many other people would find it as useful as I did.
I now see my business not only as an opportunity to help people maintain and improve the quality of their relationships, but also as a way for them to increase the quality of their lives both personally and financially.
What do you love about being a female entrepreneur?
One of the aspects of being a female entrepreneur that I love the most, is the flexibility it allows me as a mother of four. I cherish the ability to be home when the kids are home, to be able to volunteer and be active in their schools, and to have time off when they are off for vacation and the summer months.
I also enjoy and treasure the relationships, friendships, and encouragement from other female entrepreneurs. God has given us unique and specific gifts that can be used mightily in the marketplace for His purposes and glory. I enjoy being able to positively influence and impact others through my business.
How does your faith play out in your business?
I believe faith is played out in my business on a daily basis as I meet and interact with others. I always pray for divine appointments, wisdom, and favor as I begin my day. Whether my encounters and conversations with others during the day lead to business or not, I know that the relationships that are formed and the encouragement that is offered is all good! I enjoy that and am thankful to meet and get to know new people. I am sincerely trying to let God lead me (some days more successfully than others), but I acknowledge that just as in my personal life, I need to be willing to offer my business to Him as well. (Many times easier said than done…but I am trying to remain diligent in this.)
What is your BIG DREAM for your business?
Sometime the BIG DREAM is still a little beyond my grasp or comprehension…but in my heart, I would love to help thousands of people become senders of cards…not just for what that will mean to those receiving the cards, but how wonderful it will make the sender of the card feel.
I envision helping hundreds of people start their own business in SendOutCards so that they, too, can create options for themselves and their families, and make a positive impact in the lives of others.
This one is a stretch, but something that Jim Rohn said on one of his CD’s, is that he wanted to become a millionaire… for what it would make of him to become one. That really resonated in my heart, and so part of that Big Dream would be to become a millionaire for what it would make of me to become one and for the giving that could take place at that point in our lives.
What 3 tips would you share with a friend who is launching her own entrepreneurial adventure?
My three tips to a friend would be first and foremost: 1. find something you are passionate about and can believe in 2. find a successful mentor or someone who will teach you what they have learned about the business and be teachable and coachable 3. make personal development a priority
