Sometimes I question God.
What is your role in all of this?
Sometimes He answers me.
“My dog has been running the house instead of me,” a client confessed. “I’ve been praying God would send someone to help me!”
Sometimes I am a person’s last straw.
I specialize in customized training programs for dogs, often unruly or destructive dogs. Well, not just dogs—dogs AND their companions. At first I thought this was all about the dogs; however, I quickly found out it’s more about the people. Sometimes I coach and train the owners more than the dogs.
We teach positive, rewards-based training methods to improve the relationship between dogs and their owners. I love the challenges, much like I love being an entrepreneur. The opportunity to do what I love and am passionate about while controlling my own destination—unfathomable at times!
I’ve noticed a trend in dog owners. More of them want to have a choice and options of boarding. A lot of couples have “dog-children” before actually having children of their own. A practice-run of sorts. They spend money on their dogs much like they would their own child.
And we treat these pets with that same care, love, and attention.
I’m a big dreamer, too. I want to have an awesome kennel where owners who have never even boarded their dogs before will leave their dogs in complete faith and trust that we will take care of them as if they were our own. I would also love to see training tanks—RV hook-ups for those traveling with their dogs who want to train their water dog or sport dog. Like a community of dog-lovers right here at my door step.
As an entrepreneur, the biggest risk I’ve taken is simply starting. I had to take a giant leap of faith and start the business. I know what I invest now will pay off in the future and that makes it all worthwhile.
If I had a friend setting out on her own entrepreneurial journey, I would encourage her to be consistent, faithful, and to believe in herself—all the while marketing her business in a way that makes her feel comfortable.
I thank God for my wonderful family who supports me in what I do. An absolute rock of a husband who loves me just the way I am and doesn’t mind if I get grouchy because I’ve been up all night working on a project. A wonderful son, and friends and family! I am a blessed entrepreneur.
