When did you start your business and how has it evolved since then?
I first launched a Christian life coaching business in 2005 after becoming certified as a Life Purpose Coach through Life Purpose Coaching Centers International.
I have a background in politics and business and throughout the years I have mentored many women in leadership roles. As a Life Coach, I found that the clients I worked with also desired to grow as leaders and I became adept at coaching them in leadership development.
After 4 years of Christian coaching, I rebranded and relaunched my coaching practice as Leadership Strategies for Women, LLC.
As a Leadership Coach, my goal is to help women to achieve their best. Through 55-minute telephone coaching sessions, I help women and entrepreneurs to develop leadership skills, set strategic goals, bolster effectiveness and create a personal brand. I also provide consulting services as well as speak at workshops, seminars and Christian retreats.
My ideal client is an emerging leader or solo-entrepreneur who is looking to develop the leadership skills that will help her to advance in her business, career, and personal life. She is a woman of faith who is dedicated, highly motivated and willing to invest in her personal and professional growth as she works towards achieving her goals.
What do you love about being a female entrepreneur?
What I love about being an entrepreneur is the ability to give life to my vision. There’s nothing like being able to come up with an idea or develop a program and then see it come to life.
Another thing that I love is that entrepreneurship tests you in ways that a 9-5 job can never do. Your survival instincts kick in and you learn to hustle. You tap into parts of yourself that you didn’t know existed.
How does your faith play out in your business?
My relationship with Christ is the foundation of my success. My daily quiet time builds my faith and solidifies my relationship with God.
I rely on the Bible for guidance when making business decisions. In addition, my clients know that I am a Christian woman and as a result, I attract a lot of Christian women as clients.
What is your BIG DREAM for your business?
My BIG DREAM is to write a book and expand my platform as a professional speaker. Speaking at Christian retreats and leadership seminars is what I love most about what I do.
What 3 tips would you share with a friend who is launching her own entrepreneurial adventure?
Tip 1: Plan and prepare: Be sure that the business you want to launch provides a product or service that is needed / wanted in the marketplace. Spend a significant amount of time planning for success then turn your plans over to God.
Proverbs 16:3: Commit your plans to the Lord and your plans will succeed.
Tip 2: Stay focused on your goal. Be persistent. You will find many moments of discouragement along with many people who will not share a larger vision of your dream. Hold on to God’s promise to prosper you.
Jer 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you; plans to give you hope and a future.”
Tip 3: Pray, pray, pray: Pray for wisdom and discernment. Pray for your products and your clients. Pray for the matketplace and your competitors. Pray for every aspect of your business.
1 John 5:14-15: And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
