Courage To Follow Your Dreams

Heart-centered people like you and me want to make a difference in the world by doing what we are called to do. It’s not “about the shoes”. It’s about using our gifts, shining our brilliance and impacting our world. We are here to help people because they matter to us.

Yet I have seen so many women truly long for more fulfillment and richness out of life but don’t know how to make it happen. They even have a secret dream but rarely admit that dream to themselves, let alone share it with others. Here are some actual reasons I’ve heard from my clients and other women I’ve talked to, about why they afraid to let their heart speak and give voice to their dreams.

• People will steal their dream and start their own business
• Don’t know how to articulate what they really want
• Afraid people will shoot their dreams down with “what makes you think you could…?”
• Afraid people will laugh at them
• Afraid of what people will say or think
• Believe it will never happen anyway (head)
• Don’t believe in themselves enough to achieve it (heart)
• Don’t know who they can TRUST to share their dream with, even if they wanted to

As my eyes run over that list of actual statements, it saddens me how much power and influence people hold over others. It doesn’t have to be that way. The truth is we GIVE people power over us, consciously or unconsciously. Yes, it takes courage to chart you own path, but imagine the lasting void you will feel in your heart if you don’t. It’s just not worth it, but YOU are worth pursuing your dream.

I guess that’s why people who follow their dreams, silence the “naysayers”, and defy the odds are the ones how STAND OUT. They had the courage and boldness to listen to their heart and carve their own path. They are my personal heroes!

If you hold a dream in your heart, don’t let others derail you. Chances are they’ve never followed their own dreams. You owe it to yourself, and to the people you are called by God to serve, to do what God has pre-designed you to do.

I would much rather have you live the life you were meant to live and experience soul-filled abundance, than to listen to the voices of those who think they know what’s best for you. God gave you a divine “life assignment”. Boldly discover it and then do what He’s called you to do! You dream matters and it matters to God.
