The Moment My Business Was Named by a Stranger (and Why It Stuck)

August 6, 2025/in Christian Woman Entrepreneur, Entrepreneur Community, Entrepreneurship/by Heather Rosson

Ever had someone name your business before you did?

No?

Well, I have. And it was as uncomfortable as it sounds.

I was at a women’s networking breakfast, bleary-eyed and under-caffeinated, when a very enthusiastic woman across the table smiled at me and said: “You look like a Proverbs 31 Planner!”

Excuse me?

She meant it as a compliment (I think). But as I awkwardly choked down my muffin, all I could think was:
That’s not me. I don’t even use a planner.

Yet that moment sent me down a rabbit hole. I realized I’d never really named my business from a place of calling and clarity. I’d been freelancing, hustling, spinning plates, and praying… but my business name? It was an afterthought.

So I did what any Christian woman on a mission does when she doesn’t know what to do.

I prayed. Then I Googled. (In that order.)

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re in that same boat, searching for great Christian business name ideas—something that honors your faith, fits your calling, and doesn’t sound like a forgotten VBS theme from 1997.

Let’s get into it.

What Makes a Good Christian Business Name?

Here’s the big secret that nobody tells you on Pinterest: a Christian business name doesn’t need to quote a Bible verse to be holy.

Don’t get me wrong—scripture-based names are beautiful. But slapping a random Hebrew word on your homepage doesn’t automatically make your business God-honoring.

Your business name should:

  • Reflect your calling
  • Resonate with your ideal client
  • Be clear enough that people get it at a glance
  • Sound like you (not a corporate church committee)
  • And above all, it should make space for the Spirit to lead.

If you’re just starting a Christian business, remember that your business name is part of your testimony. It sets the tone for everything that follows.

3 Questions to Pray Through Before Naming Your Business

Who am I called to serve?

Are you helping busy moms meal-plan with peace? Coaching creatives who feel stuck? The name should speak to them, not just you.

What transformation do I offer?

If you help women go from burnt out to bold in business, could your name reflect that journey?

What part of my faith anchors this work?

Maybe it’s grace. Or stewardship. Or joy. A name that echoes that value will resonate more than one chosen because it “sounds Christian.”

Also—don’t underestimate the importance of creating space for rest in the naming process. If you’re rushing it, you might miss the whisper of the Holy Spirit.

20 Christian Business Name Ideas (That Aren’t Cliché)

To get your creative wheels turning, here are some examples by niche:

Coaching & Consulting

  • Kingdom Clarity
  • Called & Capable
  • FaithFuel Strategies
  • She Rises Co.

Creative or Product-Based

  • Grace & Grit Designs
  • The Mustard Seed Studio
  • Redeemed Threads
  • Rooted in Light

Health & Wellness

  • Temple Whole
  • Living Waters Wellness
  • Rise & Renew

  • Salt & Strategy
  • Harvest House Co.
  • New Mercies Admin

Faith-Based Group or Community

  • Sisterhood & Strategy
  • The Abide Collective

  • Equipped Women

Now, don’t just pick one and run with it. Try saying it out loud. Pray over it. Ask a trusted friend. Sleep on it. The right name will feel like it “fits,” not just today but five years from now when your business is thriving.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing a Christian Business Name

Trying to sound more spiritual than you are.

If it doesn’t feel like you, it won’t feel like your business either.

Getting too abstract.

“El Elyon Marketplace Solutions” may sound powerful, but your client won’t know what you do.

Using outdated language.

We’re not in a Renaissance Fair. Keep it timeless, not medieval.

Choosing a name that boxes you in.

If you think you might shift niches or offerings, choose a name flexible enough to grow with you.

If you’re juggling ideas and struggling to move forward, it might be time to look into some productivity hacks grounded in faith—because clarity doesn’t always come from pushing harder, but from pausing longer.

Still Not Sure? Here’s What to Do Next

If you’re stuck in that awkward in-between space—praying for clarity, but not hearing anything yet—you’re not alone.

Naming your business is part of the work. But it’s not the only part.

You still need the strategy. The message. The community. The people to walk with you as you make your faith and business line up and work.

That’s exactly why we created Becoming Irresistible—a program for women like you who are tired of trying to figure it out on their own. You don’t need more info. You need clarity. Confidence. Community.

Want help naming your business—and building one that aligns with your faith?

Go ahead and reach out.

Final Thoughts

The truth is, your business name won’t carry you, but it can speak for you.

It’s your chance to declare, right from the start, what you stand for and who you serve.

So sit with it. Write out the names. Say them out loud.

And when the right one clicks?

You’ll know.
