The Art of Brilliant Leadership
Every one of us is a leader, whether by position or influence. Being designed in God’s likeness, we each carry this brilliant aptitude and calling to influence, lead, and make a difference in this world. The question is: what is our vision for the leadership we carry?
Today’s world is desperate for more than just good leadership; it needs brilliant leaders. This kind of leadership is like a piece of art; it is developed intentionally, carefully, and creatively. It inspires higher thinking for greater service and provides innovative ideas with action plans to advance growth and prosperity. It sees the vast potential in everyone and seeks to release those brilliant possibilities. It leads from the heart and draws the soul to a deeper place of living, energizing others not just in what they do but also in the development of who they are. It empowers people at a core level that results in outward radiance with impact.
How we lead is more important than who we lead or even how many. Learning to lead brilliantly begins with personal development so that we can help others do the same. John Maxwell puts it this way: “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”
A brilliant leader is willing to leave her comfort zones, overcome fear, and embrace risk to help another rise with purpose and positive change to reach new heights. She seeks wisdom, learns from others, and studies to show herself approved, and most importantly, she follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Leading isn’t easy, but it’s part of our divine design, and is a gift worthy to be developed to its fullest.
Here are a few elements I’ve learned in developing my own leadership brilliance:
- B – believe in the power of your leadership. You impact people more than you realize in who you are and how you show up.
- R – refuse disempowering thoughts; then teach others to do the same.
- I – increase in wisdom; get it at all cost.
- L – listen intentionally to others with your ears and your heart
- L – laugh often; you’ll need the strength
- I – invite others to join you; there’s power in the invitation
- A – appreciate the potential in everyone
- N – never give up
- C – celebrate your God-given uniqueness; don’t compare yourself to others
- E – excel in love
Where have you been in life and what do you know that can help another flourish? Be confident in your calling as you advance with purpose, knowing that your brilliance matters. The world is waiting for those limitless achievements to manifest through your leadership and those you empower in their own brilliance.
