A Short Trip to CrazyVille
To my delight, I drove through a town called Cookietown yesterday as I took a short jaunt on my way to “CrazyVille.” I bet you have been there too…both of these locations.
CrazyVille is the town in my head where I get caught up in the details, in the “What if’s”, the “Why Me’s”, and the “I’ll show them’s.” It does me no good, and I have traveled there before. I think about things too much, take things too personally, freak out, act like a raving, junior-high lunatic and think that my world has caved in completely. I most likely resemble a combination of the Wicked Witch in The Wizard of Oz as she is melting and the frantic Glenn Close on the Fatal Attraction movie.
It is not a pretty sight. And yes, I am a Christian, God-loving woman. I took this little Sunday drive in my car, as I was going knee-deep into CrazyVille, thinking of going on a DRIVE towards a snow and ice storm. It was not one of my brightest moments. Thankfully for good friends, voice text messages, and the Kmart shoe section, I came home unscathed and less crazy. I had no idea that I was passing through a town called Cookieville until I looked on my Facebook.
Too bad they don’t have a drive-through cookie stand in Cookieville on the highway,’cause I would have been a great customer.
What is the lesson learned in this….eat more cookies? No. The lesson is that we all have places, people and events that bring out our fears and our anger. Don’t be afraid of going there, but also know that you need a safety route and a friend to guide you back home.
As a Christian Woman and Entrepreneur, I am strong. I am a leader. I am wise. But I still need support, encouragement, love, and a few cookies now and then.
Be Brave, my friends!

This is great! I think I was in CrazyVille yesterday because I resembled BOTH of those folks you referenced. Glad to be home now for sure. 🙂
Diane I just loved your analogy of where we do indeed go at different times in our life and in our business…Cookieville and especially Crazyville. Sometimes we just are so very hard on ourselves for going there or getting stuck there whereas if we can accept that we will, inevitably, it gives us the peace of mind then to know how to leave and choose where our next destination will be.
