5 Songs on My Morning Run
Exercise is a key ingredient in my life as an entrepreneur. I use this time to clear my head and brainstorm about new ventures. I often get the answers that I have been waiting for very clearly while I am running or walking. I gain insight into things that I wasn’t even aware that I needed to think about. It is one of my most sacred times with God. I spend lots of the time talking with God and praying for the NACWE and each of you!
Since this is my 5th year in business, I am sharing things in a series that I am calling the Fabulous 5. Here are 5 of the songs on my Ipod nano that I listen to each time I am moving down the trail or sidewalk.
Song #1 is One Step at a time by Jordin Sparks
This is song #3 on my playlist and it hits at perfect timing. “Hurry up and wait, so close and yet so far away” she sings. I love that Jordan reminds me to just take one step at a time and let things happen. She talks about confusion, doubt, dreams coming true, and how we will make it through the impatience and the frustration. I love this gentle reminder that I am right where I need to be today!
Song #2 is Feels like Today by Rascal Flatts
How could you not love this song? Yes it does “feel like today” and I want to remember this every day. Today is the only day I have to take a few more steps towards my BIG dreams! I am letting go of the past and “I know something is coming”. I am ready to find my way out of this long drought! What a blessing this song is to me, as I trust that today is what is need to focus on, not yesterday or next week. Do what you can do with this day.
Song #3 is Along came a women by Chicago
“There is a time when a man needs someone to talk to!”….well I think this song relates to all of us and the fact that we need someone to hold onto and who is always sincere. We all need a group of people or a person who supports us. I love this song for how it makes me remember that we all need each other. I need people that will walk this journey with me on the good days and the bad. We need the support of our female friends and mentors. We need each other and could not survive the entrepreneur journey all by ourselves.
Song #4 is Suddenly I see by KT Tunstall
Yes it does seem that I am suddenly able to see things that have been there all along, but I was not ready for……so “suddenly I see”! I see what I am capable of, and what I can offer the world, and how to make a difference, and much more. Suddenly I see that I am amazing and fabulous just the way I am. I don’t have to be someone else or be afraid of ME. “You can see she is a beautiful girl!” KT continues to say, “She holds you captivated. Suddenly I see, why the hell it means so much to me!” Yes this is true. I can see my big WHY and it keeps me going on days that I would much rather do something else.
Song #5 is Ordinary Miracle by Sarah MCLachlan
And the last song on my playlist is this beautiful, sweet song that was played on the Charlotte’s Web soundtrack. “Life is like a gift they say…..open up and find a way to give some of your own.” Please don’t throw your dreams away, says Sarah. Thank you Sarah! I need that reminder and so do many of my friends, colleagues, and connections. I know today is an ordinary miracle, and that it will be filled with many glorious and miraculous events. I want to be ready and watching….don’t you?
What songs do you listen to? How do they inspire you as a female entrepreneur? How might you be able to add more music and exercise to your daily success plan? What step will you take in the next 24 hours to do something new or try something different?
