5 Secrets to Success with Social Media
The entire month of April we are training on the power of social media at the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs. We are blogging about it, discussing it on the CAFÉ call, learning about it from our experts, and taking stock of ourselves with our template for the month on the Social Media Mad D.A.S.H. (for members only).
Today I want to share the 5 secrets to success that I have used over the years to build my business and that helped NACWE get launched.
Secret #1: Show Up
As in life, one of the biggest secrets is that we just need to show up. It is hard to make an impact or hit a home run, if you are sitting on the bench watching. This is the same in social media. You have to show up on your page in order to reach your tribe. Don’t be a “facebook stalker” if you want to use this FREE tool to increase your business. Get vocal and SAY something. Promote your program. Share your excitement. Don’t come to the party if you don’t want to meet people.
Secret #2: Be Real
One of the things that has helped me the most as I have used Facebook and Youtube over the past few years is just being authentically ME. I have goofy videos about carrots, my art, business lessons, vacation, and more. I share on my personal and business page about my cat Zander and his antics, my recent move to the Dallas area and the daily ups and downs of running a business. (Note: social media is not the place to “pick a fight” or hash out an issue that you need to discuss privately with someone)
Secret #3: Love your Clients, Customers, Fans
I love people and I love to support my people. You will have more success as you help others have success. By sharing about a referral, a restaurant, a sale, a group, or a product that you love, you are promoting that entity. So be bold and brazen with your LOVE! Share with your peeps. Don’t hold back. Remember the Tom Cruise couch episode. J
Secret #4: Tell a Story
Social media is just one big story telling adventure and we all share our story differently and with a unique voice. Is your voice being heard? Or are you just sharing someone elses story? Share your story.
Secret #5: Have Fun
Mix it up. Post random things that make you laugh, or a list of the things you love or about the 80’s song that you just heard while sitting in traffic. Above all else, have some fun! And remember….social media is FREE.
Join me over the next month as I share more tips, tools, and secrets from behind the scenes related to social media.
