I love the power of networking, especially social media. Without social media, I would never have “met” so many of you in NACWE, I would also say that 90-95% of my business revenue comes through the social media Facebook. I live my life there. You can leverage social media for your business too, and see phenomenal results.

Here are 3 secrets to using social media for success.

Be real; share YOUR voice. Have fun and let others get to know you. Yes, you can pay someone to handle your social media accounts, but you can tell when someone is not using your voice. It seems canned. Connect as a real person. One day I posted just the word “Happy” on my Facebook because that is the way I felt. It was authentic. I can share that I am “out and about with Erin, shopping” or whatever I’m doing that day. Yes, sometimes your day is boring – “Went to car dealership” – but just be real. Don’t promote with your every post or you will lose people. Connect with others.

Use Cinch. This is an app you can use to record audio through your Iphone and put on Facebook. There are different types of learning, and some people do prefer reading (visual) to auditory or hand-on learning. But the sound of your voice is powerful. People want to hear your voice. They will be able to hear your cute accent, an inflection or the emphasis you made with a certain word; they also will sense your passion when you are speaking. Cinchcast is a powerful social media tool for your business.

Your cell phone isn’t just a phone anymore! I recommend the Iphone for your business. It changed my way of business; I can do my business on the go. You can post to your Facebook business page or tweet while you’re at the hair salon, eating nachos, or running errands. You can write a short blog post while waiting for your dentist appointment, or snap a pic at the Ladies’ Networking Luncheon and upload it to Facebook or your blog later. Use your Iphone 4 to record a short video of a testimonial or while you’re at at an important event, and instantly upload it to YouTube and link it on Facebook for your business.

Use social media as one of God’s gifts to connect with others. If you’re still afraid of social media, just get over it! Enjoy the social media ride, sharing your message out loud. Have fun connecting with your tribe!
